An increasingly common request is to film podcasts, as clients love maximising their time with subject matter experts and spreading this knowledge to their audience through in-depth interviews.
Often a request will start out as a client merely asking for a ‘podcast’ (implying just an audio recording!) but it soon becomes apparent that what is actually needed is a whole list of deliverables.
These can include:
This is therefore a pretty smart way to cover all your bases with one content shoot, and position your company nicely in your chosen field with some strong thought leadership.
The resulting interview shoot to make all of this will normally take the form of a seated conversation, with a host on one side and the interviewee(s) on the other.
This will sometimes form part of a bigger event shoot (see our Events and Performance page for more on this), often taking place in a separate room to the main stage and allowing guest speakers to attend an interview after delivering a keynote speech.
A media wall with the company logo (which often will be present at a larger event) or some added set dressing can neatly fill the gap between subjects. We always recommend shooting these kinds of interviews with a minimum of two cameras – one wide angle which never moves, and a close-up that either remains on the interviewee or moves between interviewee and interviewer, depending on the requested style. Audio normally comes from radio mics to capture the best-quality sounds, and added lighting completes the effect.
Podcasts and in-depth interviews always make for great pieces of content, so we encourage any company to give them a go!
