Bloxham Steam Rally and Country Fair is one of the biggest and best steam shows in the country and it’s a great day out for the whole family.
Each year, Smiths’ Fields near Bloxham is transformed into a spectacular showcase of vintage steam engines, classic vehicles, and country charm. The event draws crowds from far and wide, and the organisers aim to keep surpassing expectations set by the remarkable success of previous shows.
Highlights include steam and traction engines, miniature steam machines, animal and wildlife displays, classic cars, caravans, motorbikes, commercial vehicles and tractors. There are also events such as tug-of-war, tank ride, model tent, food and drink and live music. The atmosphere of sights, sounds, and scents of yesteryear creates an immersive experience for all who attend. Visitors are encouraged to witness the power of steam, marvel at the craftsmanship of bygone eras, and indulge in a weekend of extraordinary entertainment – stoking the fires of nostalgia, celebrating the spirit of the countryside, and making fun summer memories!
For this event highlights film assignment, temperatures were hot so we kept the camera setup lightweight, filming the majority of the piece on a gimbal and a trusty 50mm lens. This allowed for quick, unobtrusive coverage of each area and a glossy shallow focus look. A handful of shots were also completed on a longer lens (such as for filming the Battle of Britain flypast – a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane) and also our drone for wide establishing shots to really show the scale of the event. This highlights film features specific vendors including Hook Norton Brewery, Katharine House Hospice, SWB Motorsport / Challenger 1 tank rides, Chrissie’s Owls & Stonesfield Owl Rescue, IPMS Middleton Cheney and many more. The film was a great success to promote the event and we are already discussing the next one!
